comic book movie

Went to see this movie a week ago. Didn’t expect much, because I didn’t like the older version. but kinda curious of this director’s interpretation of the first superhero in the comic world (am I right?). that and this is one of must see on chubbs’ list. ;p

Well, it was fun!!!!! The superman’s is soooo handsome. I think he is impossibly georgeous, too strikingly beautiful he must be gay. Heh heh heh.

See, am not a superman kinda girl. I was more into luke skywalker; with his light sabre, the force, piloting the space fighter plane thing, from innocent young lad into powerful jedi knight. Awesome, cool and tragic. Superman to me is silly man with his silly costume and silly curly strand of hair. The old movie’s fx is tacky (compared to the original star wars) and the fight is far from graceful. Although people think that christopher reeve had succesfully played his part, I think his face’s a little bit pervy (maybe that silly curly strand of hair. Gosh I seriously detest that). looked like he will use his x-ray vision for some indecent thoughts anytime. But I did like gene hackman’s lex luthor. He is just menacing.

Am also not american/superhero comic book reader. I prefer french (tintin, asterix, lucky luke and sorts), manga (looooovveee rumiko takahashi & mitsuru adachi!!!) and strip (calvin & hobbes, snoopy, sherman’s lagoon, mutts, etc). guess I didn’t like american style. Too graphic, the story is too dark, the drawing is too human. I don’t like their rugged drawing as opposed to clean images most french comics I read. And what’s this all about american heroism? Saving the world bla bla bla. Just not for me.

This is my attitude when I went to see singer’s first comic book movie. I went because I like his cool thriller, but wasn’t expect much. He made the x-men fun, and the superheroism bearable. The ‘am-a-superhero-everybody’s-depending-on-me’ attitude was not too intense. The second chapter was even better. This gained my trust in his ability to make me interested in his version of the most known superhero on earth.
So kudos to you, mr. singer. You converted me into superhero fan (although am still not into american comics ;p)

Oh one more thing.
While watching superman, I cannot help but think he must be really busy. If he is working every day in daily planet, does this mean that he often neglect his duties as superman so that his boss won’t fire him? Or he must be saving the world afterhours and weekends only. Does his secret identity save him from writer’s block? How does he interview his objects? Investigating new story? Managing deadline? He must be changing his keyboards constantly. It must be often broken because of his super fast typing.
He also must have a lot of money to buy all those suits he discharges whenever he hurriedly flies to someone who needs him. Or his suit contained a special pocket to stash his human clothes. I bet it’s in his cape (NO CAPE!!!! Edna Mode said).
And about decision making: what are his criterias of who needs his help the most?
spoil some people’s fun, yeah.

Also can’t help giggling when his beaten body collapsing on lex’s feet. This silly curly strand of hair is still intact despite the fact that all of his other hair is relatively straight and wet. Hohoho.
